How to Use the Concrete Material Calculator

  1. Volume Calculation Method:

    • Direct Volume: Enter the volume directly in cubic meters.
    • As per Area (L × B × H): Enter the length, width, and height in meters to calculate the volume.
  2. Enter the Volume or Dimensions:

    • If you selected “Direct Volume”, enter the volume in cubic meters in the provided input field.
    • If you selected “As per Area (L × B × H)”, enter the length, width, and height in meters.
  3. Wet Volume Factor:

    • Enter the wet volume factor. The default value is 1.54.
  4. Mix Ratio Selection:

    • Predefined Mix Ratio: Select a predefined mix ratio from the dropdown.
    • Custom Mix Ratio: Enter a custom mix ratio in the format 1:1.5:3.
  5. Result Unit for Sand and Aggregate:

    • Select the unit for sand and aggregate: Cubic Meters (m³) or Tons.
  6. Calculate:

    • Click the “Calculate” button to see the results.

Example Calculation

Let’s say we want to calculate the materials for a concrete slab with the following specifications:

  • Length: 5 meters
  • Width: 4 meters
  • Height: 0.2 meters
  • Wet Volume Factor: 1.54
  • Mix Ratio: M20 (1:1.5:3)
  • Result Unit for Sand and Aggregate: Cubic Meters (m³)

Steps:

  1. Select “As per Area (L × B × H)” from the Volume Calculation Method dropdown.
  2. Enter the dimensions:
    • Length: 5 meters
    • Width: 4 meters
    • Height: 0.2 meters
  3. Wet Volume Factor: Leave it as 1.54.
  4. Mix Ratio Selection: Select M20 (1:1.5:3) from the predefined ratios.
  5. Result Unit: Select Cubic Meters (m³).

Calculation:

  1. Calculate Volume:

    • Volume = Length × Width × Height
    • Volume = 5 m × 4 m × 0.2 m = 4 m³
  2. Calculate Wet Volume:

    • Wet Volume = Volume × Wet Volume Factor
    • Wet Volume = 4 m³ × 1.54 = 6.16 m³
  3. Calculate Material Quantities using the mix ratio (1:1.5:3):

    • Total parts = 1 + 1.5 + 3 = 5.5 parts
    • Cement: (6.16 m³ × 1 part) / 5.5 parts = 1.12 m³
    • Sand: (6.16 m³ × 1.5 parts) / 5.5 parts = 1.68 m³
    • Aggregate: (6.16 m³ × 3 parts) / 5.5 parts = 3.36 m³
  4. Convert Cement to Bags:

    • Cement Bags = Cement Volume / 0.0347
    • Cement Bags = 1.12 m³ / 0.0347 = 32.28 bags

Results:

  • Cement: 32.28 bags
  • Sand: 1.68 m³
  • Aggregate: 3.36 m³
  • Water: Cement Volume × 0.5 × 1000 = 1.12 m³ × 0.5 × 1000 = 560 liters
